This semester’s MSE field trip will take place on June 5th (Wednesday) and 6th (Thursday). It will take us to Frankfurt, the ‘financial capital’ of Germany. The city is home to several important economic institutions. During our stay in Frankfurt, we will visit five of them:
- Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW), a major state-owned investment and development bank (https://www.kfw.de/kfw.de-2.html)
- European Central Bank (ECB), the key institution of the Eurosystem, and one of the institutions of the European Union (https://www.ecb.europa.eu/ecb/)
- Bloomberg (Germany), a major provider of services such as data analytics, financial news, and software tools (https://www.bloomberg.com/company)
- Deutsche Börse (Frankfurt Stock Exchange), Germany's by fare largest stock exchange (https://deutsche-boerse.com/dbg-en/)
- Deutsche Bundesbank (German Central Bank), the German member of the Eurosystem and also a major center of economic research (https://www.bundesbank.de/en)
The field trip not only provides a unique opportunity to get in touch with these institutions and to learn more about how what they do is related to the content of the MSE program but also to share two days of experience with your fellow MSE students.
We will travel by coach from Nuremberg to Frankfurt. We will set off (very) early on Wednesday morning and return to Nuremberg on early Thursday evening. Hotel accommodation will be provided in Frankfurt.
If you want to join, please register for the StudOn course “MSE Field Trip (spring 2024)” (https://www.studon.fau.de/crs5753870.html), below. Registration for the StudOn course is also registration for the field trip. The number of participants is limited to 40, so do not hesitate to register (no later than May 10th).
Although FAU will cover most of the costs, we still need a financial contribution (€25) from you to make the field trip possible. By registering for the field trip, you agree to pay the student’s contribution. We will inform you about the payment details on StudOn soon.
We will continuously update the information about the field trip on StudOn. Please check the StudOn page regularly.
We look forward to visiting Frankfurt with you!
