General conditions and conception
Before you turn to the concrete realisation and implementation of certain tools, it is advisable to first reflect on the general and organisational framework of your teaching format and to analyse the conditions and goals of the content. This includes organisational aspects and conditions as well as the content conception of your digitalised event.
Do you have questions about the media-didactic preparation of your digital courses? In our weekly media didactics consultation hour, you can exchange ideas with our experts* and find tailor-made solutions.
You already know exactly what the framework conditions of your event are and already have a suitable concept in mind? Here you will find helpful tips for implementation: ⇢ Didactical implementation
In case you do not yet know exactly what your concept should look like or you would like to reflect on your project first, we have collected some helpful hints for you here.
Step 1
To reflect on the general and organisational framework conditions, you can, for example, work along the following guiding questions:
- Which format should be digitized? lecture | seminar | exercise | tutorial
- How many participants do you expect?0-50 | 50-100 | 100-500
- What resources and capacities are at your disposal? Auxiliary staff | own time capacities | know-how | existing (online) materials | own equipment
- Which target group are you addressing? Previous knowledge | Special needs | Media competence | Equipment of participants (mobile devices, headphones, webcam etc.)
- What (audit-related) guidelines and requirements are there for the event? hours per week | final examination | presentations | homework | exercises | practical work
For initial orientation, you are also welcome to take a look at our exemplary scenarios, which you will find under the respective teaching format on the homepage.
Step 2
As soon as you have recalled the basic framework conditions of your learning event, you can start thinking about the content conception of your event.
When designing courses, we recommend keeping the concept of Constructive Alignment in the background and keeping in mind the triad of learning objectives, learning method and examination method. Particularly with regard to learning and examination methods, the current situation requires special care in preparation so that the changeover to purely digital formats meets the didactic requirements and supports them optimally.

The following key questions can help you with the conception of your event:
- Which learning objectives should be achieved? Include the respective taxonomy level. remember / understand / apply / analyse / assess / create
- Which contents should be conveyed? At which points is didactic reduction possible and necessary?
- Which methods lead to the achievement of the desired learning outcomes? Which digital tools help me to achieve this? Take a look at our digital toolbox and get an overview.
- At what time of the semester do I want which assessments? Entrance test / self-tests for learning progress control / examination
- How should offers be implemented and distributed organizationally? Clocking / control / support
- Keep an eye on data protection. Exchange and transparency are particularly important now. But where must privacy and the protection of personal information be guaranteed?
