Guests

The various guests of FAU have the opportunity to participate in courses or even to help shape them, as in the case of guest lecturers. All guests of the university receive temporary access to the StudOn teaching and learning platform, which gives them access to the courses relevant to them. Unlike regular users, persons with a guest access can NOT join courses in StudOn on their own.
The following overview contains information on which persons study or teach at FAU for a short period of time and which conditions must be met in order to obtain StudOn access.

guest studies/Senior studies

  • Older people who would like to attend lectures or seminars at FAU can choose the courses that most closely match their interests from the quantity of courses offered. On the FAU Scientia website you will find all the information you need about senior studies at FAU.
  • Senior studies are intended for people who want to get a taste of everyday university life (again) or who want to attend lectures and seminars purely out of interest and for the fun of learning. No degree is acquired.
  •  Guest study programs allows prospective students to participate in courses without having taken up studies at FAU immediately after graduating from high school. No degree is acquired.
  • In contrast to visitors to a senior study program, visitors to a guest study program must generally have the same qualifications as regular students (i.e. a certificate of general university entrance qualification). However, exceptions may be claimed.
Interested parties can find more detailed information about guest studies on the FAU website.
  • As a general rule, visiting/senior students should not take more than six to ten semester hours. In addition, they may not attend medical school events or complete internships. Regular students have priority for events with limited enrollment.
  • Enrollment:
    • Enrollment (matriculation) can also be made without a general or subject-related university entrance qualification if at least an intermediate educational qualification is available. Guest students, on the other hand, must have the same qualifications as regular students, i.e. they must have passed the Abitur.
    • Enrollment in a guest or senior program is limited to the semester in question (SS September 30, WS March 31).
  • The fee for guest or senior studies is as follows for an enrollment of
    • up to four hours per week (SWS) per semester 100 Euro,
    • for five to eight SWS 200 Euro and
    • 300 euros for more than eight SWS.
1. Enrollment for senior studies is possible for each semester on two specific days without booking an appointment. On the following page you will find the specific dates and all documents needed for enrollment.
