ZOOM: Online Meetings and Webinars
FAU has acquired a full package license of the videoconferencing tool ZOOM for all employees and students for an initial period of one year. Virtual meetings, online lectures and webinars can now be conducted with it.

Which ZOOM license is right for me?
  • Webinars with up to 300 participants can usually be held with the standard "Meeting" zoom license, which is available to all FAU employees. Information on the corresponding settings (e.g. switching off own video for participants, ...) can be found in the RRZE instructions. 
  • If more than 300 participants are expected, or if there are special requirements for the events (e.g. streaming, hidden participant list, ...) then the zoom license "Webinar" is required, which will be assigned to you on request. Please contact schnell-digital@ili.fau.de and use the keyword "Zoomwebinar" in the subject line.

ZOOM Consultation Hour
To enable a quick clarification of your questions regarding the digital implementation of your courses with ZOOM, we offer you our ZOOM consultation hours. In a 60-minute ZOOM video conference, questions can be clarified immediately.
We have scheduled a time slot every Monday at 4pm for this purpose. Please register for this by e-mail at digitale-lehre@fau.de (keyword: Zoom Coaching).
Participation in a coaching appointment - what has to be considered in advance:
  • Simply call up the link to the meeting or copy the link to the Chrome or Firefox browser.
  • A headset or microphone is required for participation. A webcam is recommended.
  • It is generally not recommended to use a VPN connection. The use of a VPN tunnel does not result in increased security, but only increases the load on the system without any significant added value. Only if it is not possible at all without VPN - it may be necessary to use a VPN connection in very, very rare cases.
