In our learning module "Navigation and central functions in StudOn" you will find a lot of helpful information about the dashboard, your personal workspace and the other menu items that are displayed on the left side of the slate. Here, the central functions are explained, which will help you to find your way around our teaching and learning platform.
In the "Student Working Groups" section you will find the following sections:
Student Councils
A student council initiative (FSI) represents the entirety of the students in a department.
Many FSIs organize themselves through StudOn and provide valuable and helpful information and services to students in a department. We list a few examples below:
- Information about studies
- Student events (excursions, festivals, etc.)
- Service offers (advice, help with exam preparation, etc.)
- etc.
It is often worthwhile to take a look at the FSI groups.
Student Representative Councils
Sometimes you can find information about the student council in StudOn.
"The student council stands up for your interests as a student at FAU. It doesn't matter if it's on a subject level, university-wide or Bavaria-wide." (Source: https://stuve.fau.de/stuve/ 09/17/20)

Freely created groups
Here you have the possibility to create one or more groups yourself, which you can design alone or together with other students. It is the ideal place for your study group!
- The groups are used to learn and work together with other students (e.g. prepare papers together, organize study groups online, prepare for and practice for exams together, etc.).
- This area is regularly reviewed and maintained by the StudOn team. This means that groups that were created for private purposes as well as groups that are older than one year will be deleted after consultation.
- There are a few rules:
- Everything that happens in the group (e.g. discussions in forums, voting on dates, etc.) or is uploaded (e.g. summaries, paper drafts, presentations, etc.) should be relevant to your studies!
- When uploading learning materials, the regulations from the new law on copyright for the knowledge society must be observed. You can find more about this here.
- If you need help designing your group, check out the instructions and tips from the section or contact us by phone (09131-85 61133) or email (studon@fau.de). We are happy to help!
